Delhi Police has issued traffic advisory for the celebration of the 77th Independence day. As the city gets prepared to unfurl the flag at the Red Fort, security measures are beefed up to ensure the smooth functioning of the celebrations. Special instructions have also been issued for the public attending the celebrations at Red Fort on August 15. Various roads around the area of the Red Fort which include Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, Chandni Chowk, Ring Road, and Outer Ring Road. The traffic restrictions will be imposed between 4:oo AM and 11:00 AM.
Suman Nalwa, PRO, Deputy Commissioner of Police informed that heavy security measures have been taken keeping in mind the celebration of the Independence day program. All officers have been briefed to stay alert. Some roads will be blocked while some will have limited access.” She informed that special technological measures have also been taken.”CCTV cameras have been deployed, and facial recognition systems have been put into place. Artificial Intelligence is also being utilized” she informed.
Suman Nalwa, PRO, Deputy Commissioner of Police further informed “Public must also take note of any suspicious activity or unclaimed articles like bag, purse and stay alert. They can report any such activity happening at the 112 help line or report to the nearest security personnel. Anti-drone and anti-flying objects guidelines have been given to ensure safe celebrations in the city The preparations are being taken care since the past 3 months for the celebrations and G20 summit so all threats and defaulters will be dealt with strictly. The public is also requested to not carry cameras, inflammable items like match boxes, lighters, etc.”
